SnapGene can be purchased in different configurations, depending on your needs. Each type of license can be used interchangeably on Mac or Windows computers.
Standard Licenses — Most research labs purchase standard license packs. Each license activates one computer.
Site Licenses — A lab or organization can purchase a site license. One option is a fixed number of floating licenses. A second option allows unlimited usage within the organization.
Education Packs — Instructors may arrange for an education pack of 10 or more licenses. Students can use SnapGene for the duration of a course.
Each license is used to activate one computer, and may be used by multiple accounts on that computer. A license can be transferred when a computer is replaced.
With an annual subscription license, the software is operational for one year at a time. Updates are included.
With a permanent license, the software can be used indefinitely. After the first year, updates are available for an annual fee.

Site licenses for labs or organizations are available by subscription.
In one configuration, a fixed number of licenses is managed by a Sassafras KeyServer or a Flexera FLEXnet License Server. The number of licenses determines the number of computers that can use SnapGene at a given time.
In the alternative configuration, an unlimited number of computers can use SnapGene at a given time, as long as the computer IP addresses are within a specified range.

An education pack is a set of 10 or more SnapGene licenses that can be used for the duration of an academic term. The licenses may be installed on departmental computers in a teaching lab, or on the students’ personal computers. When the course is over, the students will no longer have access to SnapGene, but will still be able to access and share their work using the free SnapGene Viewer.
The price is $25 per student per term. Contact us to arrange for educational licensing.
