Changes in version 1.1 (May 22, 2012)

New Functionality

  • SnapGene can now align sequence traces around the numerical origin.
  • SnapGene can now align a sequence to any short sequence, not just sequence traces.
  • You can now print sequence traces
  • You can now flip sequence traces in the trace viewer using View -> Flip Sequence or buttons at the top right of the window. As expected this is undoable/redoable.
  • You can now BLAST for DNA and protein selections as well as selected primer sequences.
  • SnapGene and SnapGene Viewer now support Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion

Enhancements

  • Updated the Standard Common Features database to over 300 features.
  • When a circular plasmids name will not fit within the map without truncation we now place the name below instead.
  • When viewing sequence trace quality data, the vertical bars now scale along with the trace data when horizontally scaling the content.
  • Various alignment, font, spacing and textual enhancements
  • Feature names are now placed internally for single segment features with a one or more abutting but not internal cleavage arrows.
  • Simplified PCR polymerase options
  • Added "Allele Biotechnology" to the predefined sequence authors available in the Description Panel.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where when opening GenBank files exported by SnapGene, promoter names could sometimes include "color: #..." content.
  • Fixed a bug where when viewing a sequence that counts from a number other than +1, while using Sequence View the content could jump a bit when toggling various options in the side controls.
  • Fixed a bug that could result in extra dots when displaying ellipses.
  • Fixed various pliancy bugs when interacting with the fragment list in the Simulate Agarose Gel dialog.
  • Fixed a bug where SnapGene would have trouble and crash or could corrupt a file when attempting to save if the file had been moved or renamed outside the application while it was open within SnapGene.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented toggling history colors from within the Simulate Agarose Gel dialog.
  • When a sequence window does not have focus we no longer display a blue line within the ruler based on the mouse position.
  • Fixed a bug where when toggling ORF's Map and Sequence Options dialog, it was possible to generate a map where ORF's and features would be displayed on top of each other.
  • When manually checking for software updates, SnapGene now looks for and updates your software license as necessary.
  • Fixed a bug that could effect displaying two abutting features with in-frame features in Sequence View.
  • Fixed a bug with detected common features by an exact protein sequence in the bottom strand.
  • Fixed a bug with displaying bottom strand selections in linear maps of sequences with 5' overhangs.
  • Fixed a bug that could result in printed footers being clipped at the bottom.
