Version 0.2.3

Changes in version 0.2.3 (Jun 19, 2008)

  • It is now possible to create short sticky sequences using the new Anneal Oligos dialog
  • Kamino can now open DNASTAR MapDraw files
  • Enhanced color buttons first give you the option to pick standard named colors before handing off control to the standard color picker dialog.
  • Quickly choose enzyme sets using the enhanced side tool bar
  • Kamino now supports printing Features view
  • Rearranged the cloning dialog controls to provide a more streamlined interface that also provides more space to show the cut vector, inserts, and the product.
  • Enhanced the cloning dialog cloning overviews to require far less horizontal space.
  • Enhanced the look and feel of buttons throughout the software.
  • Various buttons show the new “held” state when their associated labels are held.
  • Enhanced the layout and look and feel of the side toolbars.
  • Challenging aspects of cloning experiments are now shown using pop-up bubble messages when mousing over the “Ready to clone” message box.
  • Fixed a regression that caused Kamino to sometimes crash when using the Copy Translation command.
  • Fixed a regresssion where when dragging out a selections the selection could invert when the selected length reach half the sequence length.
  • Fixed a bug that caused a partial pink tab to be shown in cloning dialogs when viewing Restriction Sites view for a cloning element whose source has not been specified.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the user from immediately accepting out of the Choose Enzymes dialog by hitting enter.
  • Fixed a bug that made the “Italicize restricition enzyme names” preference checkbox slow to respond, especially when many documents were visible.
  • Fixed a bug that caused various buttons to rapidly toggle over and over again while the spacebar key was held. Now such buttons toggle once when the spacebar key is pressed and will not be toggled again until the key is released and pressed again.
  • Fixed a long-standard bug that caused the contents of the side tool bar to jiggle when switching between sequence and map views.
  • Fixed a regression that allowed blinking cursors to show up in both enzyme combo boxes when reopening cloning dialogs.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented degenerate base tooltips from being shown when using cloning dialogs.
  • Removed the right click context menu from sequence view when used within a cloning dialog since all options in this menu should be inaccessible in this context.
  • Enhanced the placement of the view tabs on Windows.
  • Changed the default cut vector name when making a file for it when simulation a insertion to “Cut Vector.dna”.
  • After clicking the “Circular” or “Linear” labels right of the associated buttons in the New File dialog the associated buttons now automatically get focus.
  • Various buttons throughout the software that can get focus no longer steal it until you actually click them. In other words if you click but then release off such a button it will no longer steal keyboard focus.
  • The topology labels in the New File dialog no longer change the topology when pressed but the mouse is released elsewhere. In other words these labels behave like the buttons they are associated with.
  • Removed the Close button from the launch dialog. On OSX you can now use the stadard red button at the top left for this purpose.
  • Removed focus rings from topology buttons in the New File dialog on OSX.
  • Hid the Help button in the Make/Edit Feature dialogs since it presently does not do anything.
  • If the active document window a new cloning dilaog is shown maximized as well.
  • Enhanced the cloning dialogs on Windows to place the lines on either side of the tabs at the top aligned with the bottom, not center of the tabs, since unlike on OSX they are not rounded at their bottom.
